The V10 powered off-road supercar is poised to be a ton of fun to drive on off-road trails.

Since its unveiling in 2019, Lamborghini lovers have been waiting for the Huracan Sterrato to become a reality, and thankfully, they won’t have to wait much longer. The Italian brand, known for being one of the most well-regarded makers of luxury sports cars, has promised to produce an all-terrain supercar by the end of the year.

Earlier in 2022, Lamborghini revealed that there would be two new variants of the Huracan available in 2022; the Tecnica and the Sterrato. The Huracan Tecnica, which made its debut in April, quickly became a fan favorite and built up expectations from the Sterrato. So without any further ado, let’s get into what we know about the Lamborghini Sterrato so far.

If you are familiar with the Lamborghini LM 002, you already know that the Sterrato won’t be Lamborghini’s first attempt at going off the payment. Risen from the ashes of the Lamborghini LM 001 and the Cheetah, the LM 002 became Lamborghini’s first actual off-road automobile.

Known as one of Lamborghini’s wildest and most unusual creations, the LM 002 came equipped with a mighty V12 engine. The LM 002 offered the performance of a true Lamborghini despite its considerable weight. The LM 002 paved the way for future off-road Lamborghini cars and led to the successful production of the Urus over 25 years later.

The Lamborghini Urus has a sports car's fantastic speed and design while accommodating you with the space and comfort of an SUV. With a roaring 4-liter V8 under its hood, the Lamborghini Urus puts out 650 hp and goes from zero to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds.

Not only does the Urus provide everything you would expect from a Lamborghini and an SUV, but it can also take you on off-road adventures. The Lamborghini Urus has different modes for sand, snow, mud, and gravel. To add to the package, it offers reinforced stainless steel bumpers and an adjustable air suspension.

Roughly translated, Sterrato means dirt road, and that’s precisely where the Lamborghini Sterrato can take you. The concept of this all-terrain supercar was introduced almost three years ago, and it blew away fans with its fantastic design and features. The Lamborghini Sterrato can be best described as a more adventurous Huracan.

The body of the 2019 Sterrato was based on the Huracan EVO model; with a 5.2-liter V10 on it, you can have 640 horses at your disposal and take it beyond the concrete too. It also had the EVO's LDVI system, especially tuned for off-road adventuring.

Lamborghini made some exterior modifications to enhance the off-roading experience the Huracan Sterrato provides. Raising the height nearly two inches helped with the departure angle and front approach, and the wheel track was widened by over an inch. They gave the Sterrato balloon tires with 20-inch wheels and wide body wheel arches with cold air intakes.

As expected, the underbody received several upgrades and better body protection. These refinements included a front aluminum skid plate that covered the aluminum reinforcements fused into the front frame, aluminum-reinforced side skirts, and stone-deflecting bodywork made of composite around its engine and air intakes.

Other details about the Sterrato included carbon fiber and elastomeric resin mudguards, an off-road LED lighting package, a lightweight aluminum roll cage, carbon bi-shell sport seats, four-point seatbelts, and aluminum floor panels.

Lamborghini released a teaser recently, announcing the upcoming production of the Sterrato. In the video, we see a Lamborghini very similar to the 2019 concept, racing against a bike through rough, bumpy roads with incredible elegance and speed. The Sterrato looks well-protected and easy to handle as it dashes through the gravel.

Although Lamborghini may not have released many details about the off-road supercar, we assume it will have the same V10 engine, torque vectoring, four-wheel drive system, and all-wheel steering as the 2019 concept.

Exterior modifications are also presumed to be similar to its namesake, making it stronger, safer, and better. However, there are a few noticeable differences between the 2019 concept and the Sterrato that appears in the teaser. The latter still has a pair of rectangular LED rally lights on top of the front bumper, but the third LED light bar on the roof rails has been removed.

However, the existence of the roof rails means owners can install their own auxiliary lights. The pre-production Sterrato appears to have the same black plastic cladding around the wheels as the concept version, as well as the same slatted engine cover. Pay close attention, and you notice that there also appears to be an air intake springing up from the engine bay.

According to the latest reports, Lamborghini is expected to build between 500-1000 examples of the Sterrato.

Taking a Lamborghini's luxury looks and horsepower through mud, sand and gravel sounds like tons of fun. Thanks to its predecessors, the LM 002 and the Urus, Lamborghini has had experience taking things off the road, and we expect the Sterrato to blow our minds.

Until it goes into production, we cannot know for sure what cool features the Lamborghini Sterrato all-terrain supercar has in store for us. Still, knowing the company’s impressive history, we are unlikely to be disappointed.
