Arquimaña's Simple, Handsome, Portable Ika Chair - Core77

"What if when we were invited to someone's house," asks Arquimaña, "we had to bring our own chair?" The Spain-based architecture/design firm used that thought as the inspiration for their Ika, a simple folding chair designed to be toted.

Manufacturing it requires "the two worlds we like the most, the digital manufacturing processes for wood and the artisanal ones for sewing the backrest," they write.

I'm a bit puzzled by the separate wall-mounted strap for hanging, below; would it not make more sense to just hang it from the backrest on a simple dowel or knob?

In any case, the chair was designed for furniture brand Ondarreta. At press time it was not yet in production.

I’m a lapsed industrial designer. I was born in NYC and figured I’d die there, but a few years ago I abandoned New York to live on a farm in the countryside with my wife. We have six dogs.
